Freedom Hill is situated on the slopes of the Wemmershoek Mountain. It was opened in November 2004. The vineyards overlook the well-known prison Victor Verster, which is now known as the Drakenstein correctional services facility. This is also where Nelson Mandela took his first steps to freedom hence the name Freedom Hill. Freedom Hill concentrates on making excellent red wines like Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage. It also has a country style restaurant to complete the food and wine experience. Wine can be tasted from Monday to Friday 10:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 15:00. They are closed on Sundays and public holidays.
